Soba Noodle Stir Fry
Take A Staycation On A Weeknight
Today I’m taking your tastebuds on a trip to the East with a soba noodle stir fry. If that doesn’t give you enough to talk about around the dinner table, the flavor combinations of this dish certainly will.
When you take that perfect first bite, allow yourself a slow moment to savor the combination of the sweet and spicy sauce, the hearty noodles, and fresh vegetables.
The origin of this healthy and economical meal is a cross of Chinese and Japanese, and can be found in Korean dishes as well.
Soba Is The Japanese Word For Buckwheat
Soba is the Japanese word for buckwheat and usually refers to thin noodles made from buckwheat flour.
Buckwheat is an ancient grain that provides benefits for improving digestive function, cardiovascular health and contains amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. All good things for your body.
The base of this stir fry is the soba noodle. Change up the vegetables, flavorings, spices, and even add protein to your heart’s desire! Soba noodles are delicious served chilled or hot, so your pantry is your only limit to your creativity.
Stir-frying is a Chinese cooking technique. A wok is the preferred vessel for stir-frying because it provides a concentrated blast of high heat at the base. Moving the food around in the wok prevents any one item from getting too much heat.
Make This Soba Noodle Stir Fry A Family Affair
To make this meal super fun, grab the family and assign everyone a prep task like cutting the vegetables, measuring the ingredients for balsamic vinegar sauce, or toasting the sesame seeds.
Once prepped, this meal is super-fast to prepare.
You’ll have plenty of time to sit down and enjoy the healthy, global creation you’ve made together.
