Description

Ditch the packets of store bought taco seasoning with ingredients you can’t pronounce, don’t understand, and where the sodium content is off the charts. This is simple and will make you want to include tacos more often in your weeknight cooking repretoire.

Taco Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Taco Filling

  • 1 pounds ground beef
  • taco seasoning, recipe above
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Mix together all the ingredients for the taco seasoning.
  2. Brown ground beef.
  3. Add taco seasoning mix, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for 8-10 minutes. If needed, add additional water to keep the ground beef moist.
